Newcomer Business Navigation Program

Let us help you with your entrepreneurial journey!

Newcomers living in Pictou County who are interested in starting, expanding, or growing their business, as well as those who are interested in purchasing a business in the regional or becoming self-employed are eligible for one-on-one support from the Pictou County Partnership’s business development team.

Customized and group sessions will be provided to support entrepreneurs, as well as self-learning tools and one-on-one counseling. The Partnership team will support you in areas such as regulatory processes, business development planning, marketing strategies, networking, and more.

The Partnership team will help you to navigate support to programs, resources, and capital opportunities, as well as help you to make introductions to other economic partners such as the New Glasgow Farmer’s Market, Creative Pictou County, and IGNITE. This three-year program is possible with the support of a $221,025 contribution from the Province of Nova Scotia’s Labour Skills and Immigration Department.

“We realized early on in our conversations with aspiring entrepreneurs that there is a significant desire amongst newcomers to contribute to our community economically,” said Wade Tibbo, Manager of Business Development and Innovation at the Pictou County Partnership. “I am very excited to announce the Province of Nova Scotia’s Immigration and Population Growth branch of the Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration has approved a three-year funding agreement. This agreement will allow the Pictou County Partnership to deliver the Newcomer Business Navigation program in Pictou County. We are thrilled to begin this work.”
