Organization Overview:
The Pictou County Partnership is a not-for-profit organization tasked with driving economic development in Pictou County. The Partnership initiates, leads, and contributes to sustainable economic growth in Pictou County by fostering a culture of collaboration, navigating organizations to the resources they need, and engaging in meaningful economic development projects.

About You:
We are seeking an individual who has a deep commitment to supporting and empowering 2SLGBTQI+entrepreneurs. You will play a crucial role in supporting 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs through one-on-one business counselling, resource navigation, workshops and programs. Your understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs allows you to provide empathetic, effective support and guidance.

Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills enable you to build strong relationships with diverse individuals and community partners. You are adept at organizing impactful events and workshops, and you thrive in collaborative environments. Knowledge of local business resources and networks in Pictou County would complement your innovative approach to problem-solving and program development.

With your significant personal or professional experience with the 2SLGBTQI+ community, you have a commitment to working collaboratively, can adapt to changing circumstances and work independently and as part of the team. About the Position:
We are seeking a Program Manager, 2SLGBTQI+ Business Support to join our team. This position will primarily focus on supporting 2SLGTBQI+ entrepreneurs with the creation of the Pictou County Accelerator for 2SLGBTQI+ Entrepreneurship, which will include one-on-one support, workshops, networking opportunities, and program cohorts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one business counselling and business planning support to 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs, meeting them where they are in their entrepreneurship journey.
  • Navigate entrepreneurs through available resources and regulatory processes.
  • Launch and manage the Pictou County Accelerator for 2SLGBTQI+ Entrepreneurship.
  • Organize networking events for 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs in conjunction with Pictou County Pride.
  • Lead and manage 2SLGBTQI+ program cohorts with support from other Partnership team members as needed.
  • Organize workshops tailored to 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • Ensure all program offerings and policies incorporate a 2SLGBTQI+ perspective.
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and outreach.

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in entrepreneurship and/or business development
  • Strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by 2SLGBTQI+ entrepreneurs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic and effective support to diverse individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize events and workshops.
  • Knowledge of local business resources and networks in Pictou County is preferred.
  • Significant personal or professional experience with the 2SLGBTQI+ community
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

The Partnership is committed to empowering community impact organizations to thrive and make a meaningful difference in the region. Our mission is to equip these organizations with the necessary resources to enhance their capacity, ensuring sustainable operations and fostering greater community impact.

About you:
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about driving positive change in Pictou County and values the mission of empowering community impact organizations (CIOs) for sustainable and meaningful contributions to the community. You will be supporting the development of a critical new area of focus for the Partnership so will need to come with an entrepreneurial mindset and be a strategic thinker with excellent planning skills.


You bring your strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by local nonprofits to the role and can effectively communicate their missions to potential funders. You have excellent research and organizational skills to be able to build and maintain a database of funding programs and match them with needs of CIAs.


With demonstrated successful grant writing experience, and understanding of funding processes and best practices you will be able to assist community impact organizations in developing compelling grant proposals.

About the Position:
We are seeking a dedicated Grant Writer with a passion for community impact to join our team. This position will primarily focus on supporting Community Impact Organizations in Pictou County by identifying funding opportunities and crafting successful grant proposals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Community Impact Organizations in Pictou County to understand their funding needs and programmatic objectives.
  • Research funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other sources that align with the missions of local nonprofits.
  • Develop tailored grant proposals that effectively communicate the impact and value of Community Impact Organizations' programs and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to organizations throughout the grant application process, including reviewing proposal drafts, gathering necessary information, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of grant opportunities, deadlines, and funding trends relevant to Community Impact Organizations in Pictou County.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and other stakeholders to expand funding opportunities for local nonprofits.
  • Assist organizations in developing grant budgets and financial projections as needed.
    Monitor grant-funded programs and projects to ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Ensure that all grant applications are submitted accurately and on time, adhering to all requirements and guidelines set forth by the funding agencies.
  • Maintain organized records of grant applications, awards, and reporting deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Experience in community outreach, relationship-building, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of the community impact sector and funding landscape.
  • Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in a nonprofit or academic setting
  • Knowledge of funding processes, grant proposal development, social enterprise development, and non-profit leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to sustainability, capacity building, and maximizing community impact.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Pictou County and its community dynamics is an asset.
