SUMMER 2024 CO-OP JOB OPPORTUNITY: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT COORDINATOR 

The Pictou County Partnership is looking for a university or college co-op student to join our team as a Business Development Support Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the business development initiatives of the Pictou County Partnership.

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The main objective for the Business Development Support Coordinator will be to help businesses in Pictou County seize opportunities and overcome challenges. Responsibilities will include providing personalized assistance to small businesses, supporting a diverse variety of programs, and contributing to the success of various business development initiatives aimed at fostering growth and innovation. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support business development activities in Pictou County as part of the Business Development team. 
  • Offer individualized assistance to businesses. This could include business planning, researching program eligibility requirements, identifying potential sources of funding and assistance with applying for programs and funding. 
  • Support the creation of proposals, presentations, and pitch materials for the Pictou County Partnership and clients. 
  • Foster strong relationships with program participants, acting as a trusted point of contact. 
  • Manage special events, which may encompass organizing conferences or workshops for entrepreneurs, as well as coordinating pop-up shops/markets that provide opportunities for small businesses to showcase and test the market for their products or services. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Enrolled in a work term as part of a cooperative education program at a Nova Scotia university or college 
  • Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as one or more of the following: Mi’kmaq or Indigenous African Nova Scotians, visible minorities (including persons of African descent), or persons with disabilities (consisting of a physical, cognitive or mental impairment that presents a persistent barrier to work) 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks effectively 
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving 
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and digital/social media platforms 
  • Experience with AI is an asset 
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach 
  • Demonstrated ability to work remotely and/or in a hybrid work model 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset 

The Business Development Support Coordinator will work primarily in an office environment and will work a 35-hour work week. Flexibility in working hours is required as some work will happen outside standard work hours. The office is in Pictou County, some remote work will be permitted on an approved basis.  This is a 16-week coop term position from May-August 2024.  

WAGE 

$20/hour

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Digital Adoption Coordinator will assist small businesses in Pictou County effectively adopt digital strategies. This includes adopting digital tools including AI, technologies, and online platforms to enhance productivity, marketing strategies, or e-commerce capabilities. This position involves providing hands-on support, training, and guidance to empower small businesses to leverage digital solutions.  

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Collaborate with the Business Development team and be the support lead for new and existing small businesses seeking guidance and support in adopting digital tools.  
  • Offer personalized assistance to address inquiries, assess needs, troubleshoot challenges, and provide tailored solutions. 
  • Conduct one-on-one training sessions, empowering small business owners with the knowledge of digital tools' benefits and functionality. 
  • Guide businesses through the onboarding process for digital platforms, ensuring a seamless setup. 
  • Collaborate with small businesses to create engaging online content 
  • Gather feedback from small businesses about their experiences with digital adoption, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for enhancement. 
  • Collaborate with industry partners, associations, and local organizations to expand outreach and promote digital adoption.
