Maddie is a recent graduate of the NSCC Business Administration program and a lifelong advocate for the 2SLGBTQI+ community. Born and raised in Pictou County, Maddie developed a passion for leadership and advocacy in her high school years at Northumberland Regional High School, where she led the Gender-Sexuality Alliance and the Grad Events Committee. Her first exposure to business and entrepreneurship came with the opening of her mother’s restaurant Our Turn to Cook, where Maddie took on a marketing and graphic design role. Following the pandemic, she decided to build on her business experience by taking Business Administration at NSCC Pictou Campus. Over the course of the program, Maddie launched her own business, Queer Glow Candle Co., a candle shop dedicated to showcasing the rich history and culture of the 2SLGBTQI+ community. In her role at the Partnership, Maddie looks forward to bringing representation to diverse businesses in the county. In her free time, you can find her watching whichever documentary has caught her eye that day and cuddling with her cat Pollie. What excites Maddie most about Pictou County is the community’s resilience and passion.
