Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a federal, employer-driven immigration program designed to help employers in Atlantic Canada attract and retain international talent with the skills and experience needed to meet their labour needs.

The Pictou County Partnership offers employers comprehensive, end-to-end AIP navigation support throughout the whole process. Our tailored approach includes an initial assessment, a document checklist review for both the employer and the applicant, and a final completeness check.

AIP Employer Benefits

  • As an employer-driven program, the AIP allows employers to manage the process on their own timeline, while offering applicants an appealing pathway to permanent residence.
  • The AIP is exempt from the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) requirement, providing employers with an alternative to supporting employer-specific work permits for their candidates if needed.
  • AIP-endorsed candidates are eligible for government-funded settlement programs, supporting their successful integration into the community.

Connect with the Partnership’s Immigration Readiness and Support Coordinator to discuss how the AIP can be an effective part of your workforce development strategy.

Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration

The Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration funds the Pictou County Partnership to assist local businesses in utilizing the Atlantic Immigration Program to fill critical employment gaps that they are not able to fill locally. This funding helps businesses navigate the AIP process, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to attract skilled international talent.
